Paleo Frozen Meals at Costco Wholesale?

Everyone knows of the amazing prices at Costco for their bulk items, so it’s natural to wonder if there are meals in the Costco freezer section that would qualify as Paleo friendly. I’ve wondered this myself, and we set out to find the answer with this article.

Why Frozen Paleo Meals?

Have you been using a Paleo diet for a few months now? Whether you’ve been a seasoned Paleo follower for years or just a few weeks, you’ll notice that one of the hardest aspects of the diet is adherence.

The Paleo diet, if you’ve put the effort into trying it for more than a few days, is far from deprivation. The delicious food, variety of flavours and no need for food scales and weighing are just a few of the benefits, with effortless weight loss and management of chronic illness symptoms as happy side effects.

However, adherence is one hurdle that all people who follow the Paleo diet face. The busy lifestyles that we lead, what with full-time jobs, families, and the emerging side-hustle, keeps us from prioritizing meal preparation. The little time we do have is much rather spent watching Netflix and getting some downtime as opposed to slaving over the stove.

Hence why more and more people are attracted to convenience meals and to-go snacks. The Paleo diet is far more accessible than it ever used to be, with products such as Epic Provisions bars, Seasnax, RX bars, Wholly Guacamole and Justin’s Almond Butter occupying space on the grocery store shelves, but those items fall more into the snack category.

When you are trying to supplement full meals while still keeping to your Paleo ideals, it’s a reasonable question to ask. Are there Paleo-friendly frozen meals on offer at your local Costco?

Finding Paleo Frozen Meals At Costco Wholesale

In particular, are there Paleo frozen meals at Costco Wholesale?

To answer the question bluntly, not really.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find any Paleo frozen meals at Costco at the time of writing.

However, that’s not to say that there will never be Paleo frozen meals, or even Paleo fresh meals at Costco. Costco Wholesale in fact used to stock a popular frozen Truefare meal at many of their locations: Savory Tender Beef which was not only suitable for a Paleo diet, but Whole30-approved too.

Because the company of Truefare was absorbed by the popular Paleo meal delivery service Pete’s Paleo, it’s likely that all production of this meal stopped, hence why it’s disappeared off the shelves.

However we did find some things at Costco we suggest you at least consider if you were disappointed by the answer above.

Semi-Paleo/Quasi-Paleo Frozen Meals At Costco Wholesale

The only product that we found consistently available at Costco locations is Schwan’s 7 Healthy Meals for 4 in 30 Minutes’. This is not a Paleo product, but it is what we would call ‘semi-Paleo’. Some of the meals appear to be Paleo-compliant, such as the Salmon Fillets + Asparagus Spears and the Oven-Baked Chicken Breast Fillets + Mediterranean Vegetable Blend, but others aren’t, like the Ancient Grain Encrusted Cod + Californian Blend.

On the other hand, this option is fantastic for those who are starting to transition into a Paleo lifestyle, or those who tend to follow Paleo guidelines but don’t have common allergies like gluten and dairy. In this case, a quasi-Paleo line of frozen meals such as this might be useful to have on hand, but we don’t recommend them for those who have severe allergies or are using the Paleo diet therapeutically.

With a price tag of $124.99 for 28 meals, this makes each meal only $4.46, so it’s a very affordable option for those who want to move into the Paleo style of eating gradually.

Alternative Options For Paleo Frozen Meals

Although Costco Wholesale doesn’t really have Paleo-friendly meals on offer at their locations, we wanted to offer you some alternatives. Obtaining frozen Paleo meals is actually really easy, and you don’t even have to leave your house!

There are a wide variety of Paleo meal delivery services that offer frozen (and fresh) meals to your doorstep or workplace all over the US, making following a Paleo plan really easy and super affordable.

Here are some companies offering Paleo-friendly ready-to-heat meals:

Their meals are reasonably priced considering the quality, with each meal costing roughly $15 using a menu that rotates weekly and seasonally.

They are ready to eat in only 3 minutes, and take all of the stress of preparation and clean-up out.

Examples of meals on offer include Jambalaya, Colorado Hash, Chicken Tikka Masala and Cottage Pie. Interestingly, although they do deliver nationwide, they also have meals stocked in Walmarts and Whole Foods, providing you’re local to Denver, Colorado.

They are also worth considering if you are looking for gluten free nyc delivery options and organic meal delivery nyc options as their meals are both gluten free and ingredients tend to be almost exclusively organic. The Good Kitchen

The Good Kitchen, based out of North Carolina, is another meal delivery service specializing in Paleo-friendly fare. They also have a line dedicated to the Whole30 challenge, a dietary reset plan born out of the Paleo lifestyle by Melissa Hartwig.

With this company, you can order meals online that will then be shipped to your door, but you can also buy their meals in store at participating Walmart locations. This is a great alternative for those of you who prefer to try just a few Paleo meals at a time or just like to shop in-store. Where Walmart locations are spread far and wide, it’s likely that you’ll find one close-by with The Good Kitchen’s meals stocked.

Another benefit to this is that The Good Kitchen’s meals at Walmart stores are completely frozen, so you can stock up on quite a few at once (providing you have the freezer space!), so you’ll never get caught without a Paleo-friendly meal available. In fact, if you travel a lot, you can be comforted knowing that The Good Kitchen’s meals are never far away.

My goal with this website is to help get the message out about grain free diets such as the Paleo and Primal diets, SCD diet and GAPS diet, so that more people might benefit from them. My other main goal is to help everyone transitioning to these diets, which can be challenging when first starting down this path. It definitely was for me.
